PUC’s First Event!
In December of 2018, before PUC even had a name yet, several folks rallied to burn piles on La Porte Rd.
David Popp had recently attended the Northern California Prescribed Fire Council meeting where he was introduced to the idea of Prescribed Burn Associations. He brought the idea back to the Plumas County Fire Safe Council. The Council supported the idea. They formed a sub-committee and a partnership with the Feather River Resource Conservation District to get things moving.
In the meantime, David needed help addressing many piles on his property that were created to reduce fuel loading and fire risk around his home. Members of the Meadow Valley Fire Department, US Forest Service employees (off the clock), and other interested residents lit up the piles!
